Using Modern Digital Cameras
Digital cameras can now produce higher quality prints than film cameras. That picture quality, however, requires a digital camera that offers high image resolution. Images from lower-resolution models just don't contain enough picture information to produce high quality prints. Very low-resolution cameras are still great for digital pictures that you want to use on Web pages or in a multimedia presentations, however.

After you press the shutter button on digital cameras, the camera requires a second to record the image to memory. During this time, you can not shoot another digital picture. With some digital cameras, you also experience a slight delay between the time you press the shutter button and the time the camera captures the image. Digital camera lag times are certainly a problem when you're trying to capture action shots. Generally speaking, the more expensive the digital camera, the less lag time you will experience. With 2009 top camera models, lag time is barely noticeable compared to what you experienced with film cameras using an automatic film advance.

Many digital cameras also offer burst or continuous-capture modes that enable you to take a series of pictures with one press of the shutter button. This mode is very helpful in some action scenarios. While burst mode is typically restricted to capturing images at a lower resolution or without a flash, they will often produce the best action photo you could hope for.

Becoming a digital photographer today involves learning new concepts and skills. If you are familiar with computers, you shouldn't have much trouble getting up to speed with 2009's favorite digital cameras and shooting great digital photos. Even a novice to both computers and digital cameras should be able to produce great digital photos within a short time. Digital cameras look and feel much like film cameras, but are indeed far more advanced for the dollar.
